Captain Partson Jaure believes the Premier Soccer League’s (PSL) decision to postpone the 2021 pre-season tournament by a week is a blessing in disguise.
The tournament initially scheduled to start on the 15th was moved to the 22nd of this month.
Jaure says the PSL made the right decision.
” I believe the postponement is good for us, the organisers might be working on something which is beneficial to players and clubs. I think it’s for our safety and match broadcasting. It’s our wish to have these games televised because it helps market players. It is also an advantage for teams to polish up where they are lacking.
“However, we were happy that we will be back in the field this weekend but we will be waiting again.”
He indicates though that the team is ready to play,
” There is something to look forward to. We will wait for the day. As a team we are ready for the competition and if we work together as a team, we can surely achieve our set goals. We have a balanced team which have both experienced players and youngsters, which I believe can deliver.”
For Godknows Murwira, the biggest motivation is knowing that there’s something they are preparing for.
‘‘About a year ago when all sporting activities were stopped, we were just sitting and waiting to hear the organisers giving resumption announcement and as Dynamos we were lucky to have played earlier than other clubs.
“We have been preparing for these games especially after Uhuru Cup we had time to go back and rectify where needed to polish. We managed to do that and we are ready for the games. The team is balanced, we are now ready to show what we have been practicing. The fact that football is back is enough to motivate us.
‘‘Hearing about the postponement was devastating at first but we later realized that it was to our advantage. We will continue with the preparations and hopefully we will play in a week’s time. I know most of players are eager to get back to competing. Some have been waiting to play in the league for years and have to wait for another week only.”
