Centre back Munyaradzi Mawadza says the club has fulfilled his dream of playing in the country’s top flight. He had waited for eight years to play in the Premier Soccer League.
“The opportunity to play for Dynamos came through Coach Lloyd Chigowe. It’s unfortunate that it started on a low note. The team was not at its best but I was glad because I had waited for such a moment for eight years.”
Mawadza started playing football in 2011 four clubs including ZRP Harare, Scortia and Beta X1.
“Beta X1 opened doors for me. We got promoted to Division One and we played well, we finished third. Dynamos invited me for trials at the end of 2018 and in January 2019, I received the good news that I was selected to join them.
“Things didn’t go well in my first season. The performance was poor. We were not good enough to challenge for honors. I was worried because some of my teammates were well known. I was one of those people no one would notice if I was let go. I didn’t want to go back to lower divisions.
” I did everything I could do so that my name will be skipped when those being offloaded were being decided. I almost lost hope when the coach who had brought me in was fired. I concluded that it was the end for me with the club but God had better plans.
“The new coach accommodated me and we went on to survive relegation. I then received assurance that I will have another chance to showcase what I can do. The wait was again extended because of COVID-19. I now feel relieved because of the upcoming season. I’m looking forward to a better stay and hopefully the team will deliver. Personally I’m raring to go.”
