18-year old right winger Bill Antonio is ecstatic to be playing alongside experienced players. The Prince Edward Upper Six student has made the transition from junior to senior team.
” I’m just happy to be at Dynamos. It’s every local footballer’s dream to be at the club. It’s one of my dreams which has come true.
“It feels great to be playing with some experienced players who are somehow role models of many footballers, the likes of Captain Partson Jaure and Frank Makarati.
“I want to play abroad even next year but I need to do great with Dynamos and upgrade my profile.”
Antonio played for Diamond Eagles Academy, Dzivarasekwa Academy and Prince Edward Academy before signing a contract with the club. He won the Junior League with Dzivarasekwa Academy and was top goal scorer. Antonio was part of the Prince Edward team that won the Harare Schools Championship in 2017 and 2018.
He featured for Zimbabwe ‘s Under 20 team, the Young Warriors at the COSAFA U20 Youth Championship last year. He admits his parents played football but did not pursue a professional career.
“I loved football from a tender age. I started taking football seriously when I learnt that my parents were both players who failed to play professionally. That’s my biggest motivation because I think seeing me playing at a big stage will somehow make them feel better.”
He added that he is motivated by Barcelona forward Antoinne Griezmann.
